All electricity suppliers in Ohio must be certified by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) through a process that verifies that the supplier has the appropriate financial and physical resources to offer competitive service. Ohio's certification identifies suppliers as power marketers, power brokers, aggregators, retail generation providers and/or governmental aggregators.  While not all certified suppliers are active in Ohio's retail market, customers are wise to study options before making a choice.
